Soundcheck Magazine, April 2002: Review for Major Major, "Silver in Our Skies", 10-song CD, Produced by Major Major, Darron Burke, Bill Janovitz, and Brian Charles.

"From the opening hard-pop chords of 'How I Became a Daughter of the Revolution,' it is easy to see the connection between Major Major and people like Bill Janovitz and Darron Burke. Direct musical cousins of groups like Buffalo Tom and Gigolo Aunts, Major Major has put together a pleasing, polished collection of breezy, upbeat pop-rock songs, full of crunchy guitars, strong vocals, and catchy hooks"..."Every song in the collection has something to offer the listener, with crisp production, solid playing throughout, and solid instrumentation, and there are moments of great harmonic and melodic beauty."

Letter to Makeshift Studio, from Tom Graves, November 21, 2000

Going into the studio for the first time I was a little nervous. But Darron Burke of Makeshift Studio in J.P. was funny, relaxed and knew his stuff. I quickly realized this was not going to be a worry at all. He knew what to do: how to put everyone at ease without losing focus. How to listen, putting himself right in the singer or songwriter's shoes. How to smile, push a button, and make everything click. How to spend time on the important things, so the time's used well but no one feels hurried. How to hear and shape and nudge the sound toward a finished product patiently and smoothly. How to improvise, experiment, be surprising, have fun. Darron is great. Get me a rooftop so I can sing his praise.

- Sincerely, Tom Graves November, 2000

Letter to Darron Burke, from Sister Jenny Abel, July 25, 1996

Darron, I wanted to let you know that I think you rock, man. You did a beautiful recoring job on that song with the Gigolo Aunts ["Sloe"]. I was totally impressed by your work and setup you have at the Cold Room Studio. There's more: I think you are one of the most unpretentious recording engineers I have ever met in my musical career. By no means am I, a). bullshitting you or b). kissing your ass. I speak the truth, brother, and am grateful to Johnny Lane for hooking me up with you and the [Gigolo] Aunts.
Signing off for now, Jenny Abel

[Darron's note: Jenny is a great drummer and also a gifted Viola player. We brought her in to record viola on the song "Sloe" by the Gigolo Aunts from the record "Learn to Play Guitar".]
